My experience was to the contrary. Perhaps the program you imported the model into was Bryce or some other app that does not correctly render imported obj files. As for me, I downloaded the obj file with zero modifications and imported it into Terragen. According to an examination of the mtl file, there are FOUR materials in this model. All associated bitmaps are included in the zip file. Everything rendered with its separate colors. The only real objection I have to the model is that horizontal stripes run across the flowers which is an annoying artifact.
