This is a “gripping” smartphone holder than depending on the attachment you use, can mount in a car or to a wall. The gripping action is achieved with a rubber band.
Some features / design goals
One handed insertion of phone. The back plates have a locking mechanism so they won’t slide off accidentally.
Just slide the top edge of the phone in and up and then when high enough, seat the bottom of the phone in the holder.
One holder, multiple mounting options.
Mount to wall, car vent or CD slot. Other attachments can be created and swapped out.
NO SUPPORT NEEDED for ANY part.
I print the CD Slot attachment at an angle with a raft and it prints without supports.
To swap mounting attachments, you can pinch the arches on the back plates to slide them off of the holder. When you slide in a back plate, it will slide in with a satisfying click.
I’ve made a straight vent clip (no swivel joint) and also a swivel vent clip. The straight attach vent clips come in vertical or horizontal versions. The swivel version works with both vent orientations.
I created the wall mount for a friend who needed to attach it to a camper (RV). 3M command strips work well.
Make sure the threaded nut screws on straight. Do not cross thread. Tightening the nut stiffens the holders position. Adjust the nut accordingly.
The threaded nut is stiff at first. Work it on and off a few times and it will work just fine.
I remixed the CD mount. I was going to design one but found one that looked good and had good comments. I made some minor changes to work with my mounting system.
The difference between the CD mount files is that one prints without supports (just a raft and printing at the proper angle, see blue build plate picture). The other requires support. Your option.

Note: No rafts or supports needed with the exception of the CD mount. Print the CD mount as shown in the picture on the build plate and use a raft only. No support needed at all.
