Low Poly Modular Dragon

Low Poly Modular Dragon 3d model

This is a modular version of my low poly dragon that allows you to create over 240 unique dragons!

For a quick start, i added the stl files for the combinations seen in the product images as stl files. (“Finished Showcases” folder)

You can combine the following elements to create your individual dragon: (Available in the ZIP file)
Body Type (Dragon or Lung Dragon)
Wings (Yes/No)
Back spikes (Yes/No)
Legs (Front and rear legs can be chosen separately or both deactivated)
4 Types of tail spikes, or just keep the basic pointy tail
Horns (Yes/No)

The separate parts are meant to be merged digitally, not after printing. Slicers like Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Prusa Slicer can merge the parts without the help of other software.

Alternatively, you can use Blender 3D (free) to merge the parts using the boolean modifier. For this, just download the Blender file i prepared where you can activate/deactivate the modifier for the parts you want or don’t want to have. As a bonus, you can edit the body shape using a curve in Blender. This way you can change the way the body bends, which is particularly interesting for the lung type dragon.

I included a “How To” that explains how to combine the parts in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, Prusa Slicer and Blender 3D.

Printing settings

Use sturdy supports under the chin of the dragon and below the wing tips. The supports in these regions can tilt slightly before being connected to the rest of the print and thus result in shifts or failed prints. I got reliable prints by horizontally expanding the support dimensions and by using a brim for improved builtplate adhesion.
