Jason's little talkie bit.

The Colony Vessel Helios is the first release (hopefullly of many!) from the LWG Spaceflight Team.

Helios is designed as an Interplanetary colonisation vessel and is equipped with a Toroid fusion generator to provide both power and thrust that is channelled through a modified NERVA/ Rover engine. All the technology that would be employed on board are plausible technologies & methods that could well be in existence in the next century or so.

I based the ship on artwork created by Danny Boucher, and used the Explorer space vessel as a guide to the general outline I wanted to create. I designed the ship from the outset to be dismantled, so there are plenty of parts that you can feel free to remove if you feel like it!

Due to personal time constraints I have not had time to texture the ship, although I have already set up the surface colours. If I had decided to release the Helios when I had finished the mapping, then you would not have seen it until about July next year... I will leave the texturing up to you, so feel free to experiment any way you feel is appropriate.

The Polygon count is very heavy; over 1.6 million polygons, but renders very quickly. I woul recommend using "Front-face Wireframe" in Layout until you are ready to set up your lighting.
