The Kia K5 (formerly known as the Kia Optima), is a midsize sedan produced by Kia since 2000. The first generation was primarily marketed as the Optima, despite the Kia name Magentis has been used in the European and Canadian markets since 2002. For the second generation models, Kia used the names Kia Lotze and Kia K5 for the Korean market, using the name Magentis for the global market. demand, except in the United States, Canada and Malaysia, where the Optima name was retained until the 2021 model year. The K5 name is used for all markets since the fifth generation version was introduced in year 2019.
