In this design plan, the Takatsu, as the armed escort of the aviation battleship, gave it excellent anti-aircraft firepower. The Takatsu CLAA used six powerful dual mounted 140mm high flat dual purpose gun groups, equipped with HE and SAP shells. The 14cm naval gun is more in line with the physique of Japanese soldiers, and with the assistance of a loading machine, the firing rate has been increased to 8 seconds, which is a significant improvement compared to traditional 152mm naval guns.
The ship is equipped with a triple 610mm torpedo on both sides, which can ambush enemy forces in the port at night. For the purpose of assisting air defense, the ship is equipped with some Type 5 40mm anti-aircraft guns to replace the old Type 3 76mm anti-aircraft guns. To prevent attacks from US submarine forces, the ship was equipped with anti submarine reconnaissance equipment such as Type 93 underwater listening machines and depth bombs.
