20式自動小銃 is an assault rifle of 5.56x45mm caliber. It replaced the Type 89 in 2020. Externally, it resembles the SCAR and internally, too. As it turned out, the Japanese like theirs better than the German G36, HK416, Austrian AUG, and Belgian SCAR (which our dear Japanese friend looks like).
