The Rynnäkkökivääri 62 (Assault Rifle 1962) is officially the 7.62 RK 62, commercially the M62. An assault rifle chambered for the 7.62x39mm cartridge, manufactured by Valmet and Sako. It is based on the Polish AK47. It became the base for the IMI Galil. Although it is still an AK, quite a few changes were made. Because of this (and also because of the high quality materials), the RK 62 is considered a high-quality copy of the AK47.
