This is a Speaker design I came up with as an alternative to 360 degree Speakers like Amazon Echo Plus.

I use it in the middle of a 4 person desk at work, but you can also use it like an Echo in a normal room.

The dirver is an Dayton Audio 100-4 full range speaker, with an calculated housing and port. The port is relatively long, so i made this “snake port” which also increases housing stiffness.

It is a passive speaker without an battery or bluetotth or anything.
I use it on an old Denon Stereo Amplifier, but it will work on mostely any amplifier.

I need to turn up the bass and the highs on the amplifier to the max, but then, compared to an Echo Plus, it has more bass, finer mids and nicer looks.

As it is still a relatively small speaker you won’t be able to host big partys with it.

I plan to experiment with an filter, but it works without one as well.

Designwise I experimented with an pointed top as well, but did not like the “rocket look”.

Anyway I can upload an pointed top extension if anyone is interested.

You can print everything without support. The main compartement has a custom support already included on the cable outlet, wich you can break away after printing.

I printed it with 0,2mm layers, and the printer had no problems with the overhangs at the port.

The feet need to be printed standing on the flat surface, as they have a slight curvature on the outside.

The dowels need to be printed flat, as they might break when printed standing

Post-Printing

I sanded it down, addad spray filler, sanded again and spray painted it, but you can also use it out of the printer.

The Speaker is fixxed with standard metric screws directely in the plastic, which works very good.

The speaker cable will run down one of the legs, and is sealed with hot glue.

The parts are connected with hotglue and the dowels.

At fist I used round dowels printed standing, but they broke, so I used metal rods I had laying arround. I designed square dowels for you, so make sure to print them laying flat, so they are more stable on bending.

I also added damping wool inside of the speaker, but did not notice a big difference.
