This is a very inexpensive and simple ring light to mount on a lens or filter with a 52mm thread. You can build two for less than $10.
Because the light itself isn’t designed for high CRI and natural color, it doesn’t render color super well but is excellent for capturing detail on small parts and is extremely portable.

The only modification to the light is to trim off the small latch tabs on the plastic diffuser and provide a 12VDC source for the light. The included constant current driver allows a wide range of voltages and the light output remains constant – no fear of overdriving the LEDs.
The adapter can just be glued into the back of the diffuser – the wires exit through the small slot at the edge of the ring
