Action Cam handle

Action Cam handle 3D model

3D Action Cam handle model

Yet another handle for an Action Cam to be used underwater!
I searched far and wide for a handle that would fit my printer to no avail, so I decided to design my own.

The design fits a small printer like mine (build plate 130x130x130mm) thus is made of three parts: the top part with the cam holder, the shaft and the bottom cap. The three parts are screwed together with a “bottle-like” thread.
The inside of the domes is conical designed to minimize the need for supports.
I could print the female threads in the shaft without support and I suggest to avoid using it since it is difficult to clean it out.
The threads are quite snug and required some sanding and a small drop of lube to assemble easily. The lubrication is definitely helping here. There is no need to disassemble the parts once complete unless you need to replace the lace.
The top part has a peg and a hole to attach the lace. You do not want to end up with the handle hanging from your wrist and the cam sinking down if it loosens from the main body…

The design is hollow and not tight on purpose to allow water to come and go and remove buoyancy.

I have engraved “ANDREA” on the handle. I can remove it and replace it with my logo if someone asks for it.
