This is a modified mount for a GoPro camera designed to be used as a helmet-free head mount. The original design was created by cutting the mount that was built into the original packaging out and mounting it on the straps of an old broken headlamp. I improved the design by adding more robust loops to the top and sides of the mount instead of using slotted tabs to attach it to the straps. The back of the design is hollowed out in order to accommodate a piece of foam padding. I simply cut a piece of an old foam bed roll to fit neatly inside the back of the mount.

Post-Printing
The mount is designed for use with 3/4” straps, simply because that was what I had lying around, but I suspect 1” would be more stable. (Remixers, feel free to experiment and let me know how it goes!)
How I Designed This
This object was designed when I realized that the packaging for my GoPro Session 4 camera had a built-in mount in the package design. I happened to have an old headlamp with a busted mount, but the straps were fine, so I cut the mount out of the GoPro packaging and made slots in it for the straps with a Dremel tool. The design looked viable, but the slotted openings for the straps were flimsy, so I measured the dimensions using a simple caliper and added more robust loop style appendages for the straps.
Modified mount that was part of original packaging for GoPro Session 4.
Broken tab on slot for strap. This is the same design that failed on the headlamp, the straps of which I used to create the new improved head mount.
