Macbook Pro Minimal Stand

Minimal support for a 2017 Macbook Pro 15″

This laptop stand was designed to be placed on top of a flat surface so the screen would be the right height for viewing without having to tilt my head. Additionally, the stand is tall enough that I can place my external keyboard under the laptop and not hit the laptop when typing.

The wide version is sturdy enough for my use case to just need 2. By placing one of the supports on each side, as close to the ports as the venting grooves will allow, I can use the track pad and the laptop is fairly stable.

If you want a more stable stand, or your surface is uneven, print 4 of the narrow stands.

These stands are designed to fit snugly, and should click into place in the venting ports at the bottom of the laptop. The venting port acts as a groove/guide for placement of the supports.

Part designed using Autodesk Fusion 360. I’ve included the the f3d files for each of the parts.

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2mm

Infill: 30%

Filament: Prusament PLA Red

Notes:

Printed with 4 shells to ensure proper structural integrity. If your slicer/printer supports it, I recommend the Gyroid infill pattern for multi-directional strength.

Used the stock 0.4mm Prusa MK3 nozzle.

I’m not sure if the correct printing orientation is preserved. I recommend orienting so the part is laying on its side as shown in the print bed photo
