This is a Panorama Robot created to hold large cameras, like DSLRs, with big telephoto lenses. I’m using this bot to create panoramas and Gigapixels with my Canon 80D DSLR and have used lenses up to 600mm.

The bot consists of two parts, the mechanical part, mainly 3d printed parts (which you can find here) and the electronic components (controller) with the software (which I will release in a separate github repository).

The parts can be printed pretty easily, no special setup required, no extreme overhangs, etcs. Additonally, you need some hexscrews (M3,M4) and some 8mm iron rods. A complete list might follow…

You have to print the following parts:

1* central_gear
1* drivegear
1* central_pan
1* stepper_pan_mount
–> this builds the base for the pan motion
2 * pantiltconnector
2 * tiltsteppermount
–> this is the mount for the tilt platform
1* tiltsidesteppergear
1* tiltsidedrivegear
1* tiltside
1* tiltsidedrive
-> this is the tilt platform itself
additionally, you should print some kind of mount for the camera itself
1* camquickmount
2* quickmountclamp

Hardware which is required:
2 stepper motor
1 arduino mega with LCD keypad
Some wiring, for connecting the steppers and connecting the focus and shutter release of the camera.

Finally, here are some examples of the panoramas that I have created with this machine:
