A simple USB volume control knob that you can push down to mute. It is 50mm in diameter and 50mm tall. I used a 5v Adafruit trinket which is recognized by your PC as an HID. This means you do not need to install any special drivers to use it. I recommend using a 6mm split shaft encoder (like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JE9KJJO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) since it will fit on the knob much easier. I have also included a knob for use with D-shaft encoders like adafruit sells but the fit will most likely be finicky.

Fill the base with BBs or something small and heavy and then use epoxy, nail polish, etc to hold them in place. I used acrylic conformal coating since it is thin and dries quickly. I used an adhesive backed rubber pad on the bottom of the base to prevent slipping. The trinket fits snugly in my prints but I still used a small spot of glue to prevent it from lifting out. The top of the base is screwed to the bottom using two 1/4″ 4-40 screws. You could also use 6mm M3 screws.

Follow the guide here for installing the code on the trinket: https://learn.adafruit.com/trinket-usb-volume-knob/overview
