Lady Maria

Lady Maria

I love Bloodborne, and Lady Maria is one of my favorite characters in any game. I was so happy to find this print!

According to the comments in the original .STL, there appeared to be problems printing the top of the base, even resulting in crashes.

Not wanting to risk it, especially when printing with a 0.25mm nozzle for hours and hours, I decided to try and fix the .STL.

Print Settings

Printer brand: Prusa
Printer: I3 MK3S
Rafts: No
Supports: Yes
Resolution: 0
Infill: 20%
Filament_brand: eSun
Filament_color: Gray
Filament_material: PLA+

Notes:
After repairing the .STL in Meshmixer, I used PrusaSlicer as my slicer of choice. I always print using a Brim, so I would recommend it. I also chose the option to generate supports everywhere, not just on the build plate. For my first print, I scaled the model down to 25%. I used the 0.05mm ULTRADETAIL @ 0.25mm nozzle preset for the MK3; the print took approximately 18 hours.

Post-Printing

Removing supports and lack of detail on base

I always use a pair of very fine tweezers and an X-Acto knife to remove supports. I noticed that there was a lack of detail on two of the four plates to the right side of the model (see picture). I’m not sure if this is a result of my print settings, the model scale, repairing the .STL, the fact that I use OctoPrint for timelapses and the printhead centers on the right, or some combination of the above. I can still make out the details on those plates in the .STL, even after running the Meshmixer repairs, so maybe you will have better results. I plan on just smoothing them flat and painting them if the same thing happens on future prints.

How I Designed This

Meshmixer Instructions

I imported the original .STL file into Meshmixer. From there, I went to Analysis -> Inspector, chose “Minimal Fill” as the Hole Fill Mode, then selected Auto Repair All. I’m not really familiar with the software, so I’m not sure if Hole Fill Mode makes a difference when doing Auto Repair All. I exported the model as a .OBJ file and imported it into PrusaSlicer for slicing.
