The DeLorean DMC-12 is a sports car that was manufactured by the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) from 1981 to 1983. It is most famous for its appearance as the time machine in the “Back to the Future” film trilogy. The car’s distinctive design features gull-wing doors and a stainless steel body.
The DeLorean DMC-12 was the only model produced by the DeLorean Motor Company before it went bankrupt in 1982. Approximately 9,000 DMC-12s were manufactured during its short production run.
Under the hood, the DMC-12 featured a rear-mounted PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) V6 engine, which produced around 130 horsepower. The car had a manual five-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. Although the DMC-12 had an eye-catching design, it was criticized for its underwhelming performance and handling.
