They attach quite securely to the Joy-Con, improving the ergonomics of portable mode quite a lot! The size and shape are heavily inspired by the official Joy-Con grip that comes with the Switch.

You should be able to dock your Switch while these grips are attached!
(Note that I accidentally made the back too thick on the prototypes that I printed, so mine aren’t dockable, but I fixed this in the final file.)

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Wanhao
Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2
Rafts: No
Supports: Yes
Resolution: 0.2
Infill: 10-15 %
Filament: ColorFabb nGen Black

Notes:

There are 2 versions available: one with a 0.3 mm offset, and one with 0.4 mm. 0.3 worked great for me, but if your printer or filament is bad maybe try 0.4?

I suggest you start by printing the small Offset Test file, which is also available in 0.3 and 0.4 mm offsets. Check if it fits by clicking it into the bottom screw hole of a Joy-Con.

If it fits, you should be good to go!

Print in the orientation shown in the screenshot. This makes the thin top part less likely to snap.

The provided file is for the Left Joy-Con. Mirroring the file in your slicer gives you the grip for the Right Joy-Con.
